Lu Ting was not in danger at the hands of Yu Guangji; it was likely just feelings that would arise.
Tong Sui said, “Let’s send some bugs to search again.”
“Yes.”
The space pirates had to temporarily escape to a remote planet outside the jurisdiction of the Empire, evading pursuit.
The mecha piloted by Yu Guangji was severely damaged, and when he jumped down from the cockpit, he spat out a mouthful of blood.
“Boss, are you alright?”
A few space pirates who escaped with Yu Guangji rushed to support him, but he raised his hand to stop them.
He wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth, spread his wings, and slowly walked forward.
Yu Guangji looked at the mecha he had brought back deliberately, his eyes darkening as he used the sharp edge of his wing armor to cut through the seemingly sturdy hatch.
“Come out.”
Even though he was injured, he had successfully brought that person back.
Yu Guangji felt that the trip was worth it.
But after waiting for a few minutes, a figure slowly emerged from the mecha, completely different from the dark-haired, fair-skinned male he had imagined.
Yu Guangji narrowed his eyes.
“Tsk.”
He sprang high, yanking Lu Ting down from the mecha and throwing him onto the ground.
Lu Ting fell onto the overgrown ground, his cheek scratched by the sharp edges of the leaves, and he got some damp soil on him.
“Boss, did we capture the wrong bug?”
“But judging by his appearance, he is indeed a male bug. I heard there were two males who came, he should be the other one.”
A few space pirates gazed greedily at Lu Ting, as if eyeing a plump prey, their greed unmistakably present in their eyes.
Lu Ting’s face turned pale.
He never expected these space pirates to be so bold as to capture him.
He feigned calm and said, “You better let me go. I am a duke; the Empire won’t let you get away with this.”
“Stop the nonsense,” Yu Guangji said, stepping on his chest, his patience wearing thin from the mockery.
He aimed the tip of his wing at Lu Ting and demanded, “Tell me, where is Tong Sui?”
That foot nearly knocked the breath out of Lu Ting. In the brief two seconds he was dazed, the tip of the wing had already pierced the side of his neck.
This female bug is truly insane!
Lu Ting managed, “I know where he is.”
Only then did Yu Guangji lift his leg, retract his wings, and coldly stare at him. “Speak.”
Holding his painful chest, Lu Ting struggled to prop himself up, his voice hoarse, “He’s in that white mecha.”
“Do you dare to lie to me?”
Yu Guangji grasped his collar.
How could a mecha of that level be controlled by a male bug?
“I’m not lying; he really is up there,” Lu Ting insisted. “But there’s also a female bug with him; that mecha has dual control seats.”
Yu Guangji threw him back to the ground, instantly understanding everything.
He had faced Bai Xingluo for so many years and knew his techniques all too well.
However, he did not expect the usually straightforward Bai Xingluo would return with such anonymity.
Moreover, there was now such a tricky mecha involved.
Yu Guangji’s expression grew increasingly grim.
“Boss, why do you look so awful?”
“Who is the other female bug?”
Yu Guangji shot them a look, “Are you all brainless? After being enemies with Bai Xingluo for so many years, you can’t even think of this.”
“Huh? How is that possible?!”
The space pirates exchanged glances, fear evident in their eyes.
Lu Ting, on the other hand, wore an expression of sudden realization.
He had always thought Bai Xingluo was captured by the pirate group, never imagining he would be so bold as to sneak back in this manner.
“Boss, what should we do now?”
“Have the other bugs stay on guard, activate defense mode, and prepare for any counterattack from the Empire.”
Yu Guangji glanced at Lu Ting on the ground. “As for him, you handle it.”
Lu Ting was stunned; seeing the space pirates approach him with significant looks made his back chill.
“Wait, I still have something to say!” Lu Ting shouted, “I hope to cooperate with the space pirates!”
“Cooperate? What value do you bring to the table?”
Yu Guangji pulled out a lollipop, crunching it noisily, as if he were chewing on bones instead of candy.
Lu Ting said, “I am very familiar with the internal workings of the Empire, especially the palace security.”
“Oh?” Yu Guangji replied. “If I wanted to kill that bug emperor, would you dare to help?”
“Of course,” Lu Ting replied.
If the old bug emperor died, with his identity and prestige, plus the power of the space pirates, he was confident he could ascend to that position.
In the dark of night.
In a pitch-black bug emperor’s bedroom, a sharp alarm suddenly blared, and when a group of guards burst in, they found blood dripping down the wall from the large bed.
The bug emperor on the bed had already drawn his last breath.
And on top of him lay a familiar flag, the arrogant pirate insignia soaked in blood.
At that moment, Lu Ting mysteriously returned to the camp.
“How did you escape from the space pirates?”
“I took advantage of their unguarded moment and escaped in the mecha,” Lu Ting frowned. “What, don’t you want to see me back?”
Xie Feibai said, “I didn’t mean that. Since you are back, just tell me the location of the space pirates. We will track them.”
“I left in a hurry; I don’t remember much.”
“That’s alright.” Xie Feibai nodded to an underling nearby. “Go and copy the navigation records of Sir Lu Ting’s mecha.”
Lu Ting clicked his tongue, “What do you mean? Don’t you believe what I say?”
“What are you nervous about? This is just a military procedure. Or are you afraid?” Xie Feibai said, “You must have heard about the assassination of the old bug emperor, right?”
